A report on the River Test highlights the inability of Natural England to adequately assess SSSIs in England

The Test and Itchen Association hosted Emma Howard from Uneartherd for a day on the River Test – she spoke with Ben Biswell, Seth Crosswaite and Paul Vignaux. Read her in depth report with lots of interesting links to other sources of information.

Southern Water (SW) Statutory Consultation on the Hampshire Water Transfer and Water Recycling Project until 23 July 2024

SW are consulting the public on the findings of the Preliminary Environmental Investigation Report on this important infrastructure project. The project, one of a number planned in the SW area, will reduce reliance on abstraction from the chalk aquifers of Hampshire. We support the project as it is vital in helping to combat the looming national water emergency caused by the twin pressures of increasing population and the effects of climate change.

The Test and Itchen Association

“Healthy rivers are our passion. In securing their protection, we learn from the past, and look to the future. We’ll listen, guide, support and ensure that voices are heard. We value partnership. Together we’ll see them thrive.”

Who We Are

The Association is a membership organisation made up of those with an interest in Hampshire’s chalkstreams.  Our members are river owners, river keepers, and those who simply enjoy the world class fishing or the rivers’ unique environmental heritage.  They all care deeply about the future of the chalkstreams.
